two skies

i'm howling at the moon.
it's yelling back with lightning.

i feel full of acid, salt, styrofoam.
and i wonder how hard i have to squint my eyes for this gin bottle to refill itself.

i can't focus on anything. not on anything in front of me. which is unfortunate, considering i am training at a new job. more people to meet. more people to act in front of.

it terrifies me to see so many people in this world. i have never felt so alone as i do now that i am constantly surrounded.
and i think all birds are bats, and all sticks are snakes.

need i say that the cloverfield monster is on my brain!
but you already knew that.

up and down up and down upanddown.

too tired. always ALWAYS too tired. i am too big for this bed.

memorial days

hola!
yes indeed my camera is on the fritz....so today only i have pizza pictures. tomorrow who knows. so quick while it lasts!

here we have alex grating some mozzerella cheese onto the (handmade!) crust and (cheap store bought!) tomato sauce.
I used whole wheat flour, which was a good idea on my part, but then i got flustered and rushed the crust onto bakng sheet process. So it was lumpy and not very crispy, but the flavor was just fine, and even tasted semi-good for you.

This is what the pizza looked like before it went into the oven. Tomato sauce, mozzerella cheese, artichoke hearts (yum!) sausage, red onions, and a fresh garlic and basil blend. So, basically there was no particulars as to the type of pizza, it was just a semblance of what anyone wanted.
the perfect was to make a pizza.
And here we have the finished project. Like i said, the crust needs some work, but it was, i'd say, about an 80% success rate.
fuzzy. but delicious.

finally pizza updates!

now let's get to this past weekend. Memorial day weekend. Finally some seasonable weather, saw the Islands, hung out with Kristen and Anthony, beer garden, BURRITOS, roof sessions and HossenfefferMcNasty,

After a 5 day weekend i GUESS i am ready to get back to work. but i have tasted the sweet life.
it tastes like a tall boy of PBR.

not my sandwich. wish it was.

I had been on such a roll updated this little guy. A fickle camera, busy schedule and lack of money provides not much to talk about though.

My camera has deleted all pictures before pizza night and all after. which reminds me i must update with the pizza we made :)

anyway. so i am hoping it is my fault and not the cameras, which is VERY likely.

last weekend I met up with Jamie to get some falafel and retreive my beloved parfait bowls. Falafel turned to the Continental, and once that started at 330 pm drinks did not stop until 3am. We bounced around to Queens, where we had vodka tonics, and Indian food. I had Lamb shank for the very first (but certinaly not last!) time. It was so spicy melted right in my mouth. By the end of the meal, countless slabs of Naan, spicy goat and spinach, my face was BRIGHT red.

we head back to the continental, where things have become considerably more rowdy since our visit earlier in the afteroon.

Some bad rock and good rap ensued, "dancing" and a heart to heart with the fraleys concluded a very eventful saturday.

Sunday i looked in my wallet and wept.

ALAS!

So most recently, I saw Jena and Charlene last night. We went to Devotchka at termial 5. It was great fun (I had an empanada, obvi) but the beginning acts made us sleepy and we took to the floor between acts.

they were lame, we were not.

today the weather is almost looking up, thank goodness! I have only 3 days left here and I would like to take in the park and the cobbles before I go.

in other news, i am winning. michelle 2! nuts zero!

potentially the dumbest food experiment i have ever done....for the penalty of loss is death.

but i'll be goddamned if i can't cook to my full ability because of some food allergy!

frosting frosting frosting!

and salami sandwiches, things i like :)

i'm just sitting on the shelf

feeling breezy.
last night was date night with Miss kristen faley and Miss alex fraley.
I'm such a lucky lady!
Kristen and Alex and I went to Panna II, the overly gaudy but delicious Indian restaurant. i took a few pictures, although not as many as i would have like to. Once you get a seat at this palce, you don't really move. the place is the size of a train car, with people and lights and servers all scrambling around. kristen and i learned from last time to EAT SLOW. because as soon as they see you plate is empty there they are, clearing away your dishes and scooting you out the door. we all got dishes we like, and when they arrived we, without word, scooped a portion of each dish onto our plates. it was delicious! we brought a bottle of wine (the place is bring your own drinks) and had a really fantastic time.

then we went to Doc Holidays where they played garth brooks all night. it was fun actually singing "i've got friends in low places" in a crowded bar, everyone singing along, swaying back and forth with the tune and raising glasses to strangers.
Think more like 'Cheers" and less like 'Sex and the City'.

it's wonderful having friends in town :)

anytime at all.

The family came into town yesterday, and I ate alllllll day long!
so hiphip!
This is the Tuscan salad from Igloo in Astoria. It was delicious! grilled chicken, fresh mozzerella, heaps of avocado and roasted red peppers!

thennn, I met Troy for some pizza!
99cent pizza place in midtown. i fucking LOVE this pizza.

oh, hi troy.

and last but never EVER least.
Midnight bar food at the St.Mark's Ale House.
it was awesome!
I put 2 lbs of pepper on the fries making the perfect combination with my 5 Miller Lites.

Now it is Sunday.I am broke, over tired and dreading the laundry pile in the corner of the room.

cause all i wanna do is dance.

got old times and old tunes on the brain...

work day is almost done, it is nice that just because the work day is over does not mean the day is. Afterwards (rain or shine?!) I am going to the grocery store to pick up some supplies for this weekend's baking plans. For mom i am making Cranberry Orange Biscotti (as per request) and perhaps some sort of small cheesecake (because I know that's what she really wants and is too afraid to ask)

For Micaela's Confirmation/Birhtday (sweet 16 todayyyy!) I am making Lamingtons.

A treat I have had my eye on for awhile now. Small bite sized cakes, orginating from Australia. Made with sponge, or pound cake, then covered and chocolate icing and sprinkled with unsweetened coconut.

(Pictures will soon follow)

Speaking of which, last night Troy came over and we made brownies. But that's just the beginning!

Warm brownies, vanilla ice cream and piping hot chocolate syrup!

haha. someday i will take a good picture. that day is not TO-day.
suckers i'm out!

barefoot in the park

spring is here.
hide your sons, bring your flask and paint your toes.
which is exactly what i did on my lunch break.

I am currently working on Columbus Square, and I now understand why people love new york. I am sure the weather has helped, the new apartment, the semi-stable job. But this place is incredible. Fountains and dogs and fashion. hot dogs and pigeons and pollen.
My nose is red but my heart is full.

I am reception-ing. nothing new. But i can read and chat with miss apple pie.

I lunched in the park today. I sat on my sweater, dug my elbows into the dirt and read my book. Petals fell from the sky, and statues looked somberly onto the pedestrians.

I painted my toe nails and drank from my flask. Took pictures of dogs.

Is it possible, that spring, this spring, this city IN spring can turn my cynical heart to mush?
Dont' count on it. But now might be a good time to ask me a favor.

when you drive home to your place

i went home this weekend. the purpose was the save money, play with molly and use my mother's counter tops to make many treats.
I made raspberry scones, oatmeal cookies, and 2 types of puppy treats.
you know you need some work when even the dog won't eat the food.
ooops i forgot some ingredients and made it up to her with hot dogs and long walks.

Shmooples bought me a new camera. It is beautiful and plum. delicious!
now i can take pictures of food and friends and good hair days and the sun.

I returned home with much furniture and necessities such as a small television, lip gloss, an iron, food processor, photo albums and a Peterson's guide to the all the culinary schools on God's green earth.

Tomorrow I start work at a fancy pants place that I do not have fancy pants for. Alas, fake pearls must suffice.

I am on my own. With a big room and new sounds to liken my ears to, I have room to stretch my legs and spatulas.

I am crazy about a boy and there are chocolate chips on the bedside table.
Could it be things are looking up?!

I will be knocking on wood for the next 2 hours to ensure such.
